CANADIAN SCALE-UP INITIATIVE
The Canadian Dream Summit is a world-class conference that promotes collaboration, celebrates new ventures, and generates thought-leadership on transforming Canada into the world’s leading innovation economy. In connection with the Summit, the Canadian Scale-Up Initiative is an innovative program to rally the technology ecosystem around high potential founders with a view to creating Canadian success stories that resonate and inspire.
This twelve-month non-profit program provides high potential founders with a sequential series of high value mentors with experience relevant to the company’s present stage, then future stage, and lastly a global perspective in line with the Summit’s objective and theme.
Dominic Barton is the global managing partner emeritus of McKinsey & Company. He is based in London, UK and leads the firm’s focus on the future of capitalism and the role business leadership can play in creating long-term social and economic value.
Dominic is the chair of the Canadian Minister of Finance’s Advisory Council on Economic Growth and the chair of the Seoul International Business Advisory Council.
Stephanie is a Partner and Managing Director at Portag3 Ventures. She leads new fintech investments for the fund – in the wealth management, banking and insurance verticals.
Prior to joining Portag3, she helped the world’s leading banks and insurance companies build and launch innovative fintech products from the ground-up, as a Fintech Lead at BCG Digital Ventures.
Robert Antoniades co-founded Information Venture Partners in 2014 where he has led investments in and currently serves on the boards of Flybits, Postbeyond and Q4. Prior boards include Adaptive Insights (acquired by Workday), Igloo Software (exited, 2017), Placemark Investments (acquired by Envestnet), Varicent (acquired by IBM), ITM Software (acquired by BMC) and Verafin Software.
Prior to co-founding Information Venture Partners, Robert was managing director of RBC Venture Partners where he led direct investments in a broad range of software and technology companies.
Vipul is Vice President, Head of Payments Platform & Capabilities, Digital & Payments at TD.
In his current role, Vipul is responsible for oversight and management of the Canadian Payments Platform & Capabilities, roadmaps, execution of initiatives, and working closely with various partners, including technology and third-party vendors.
Brendan Holt Dunn
Brendan Holt Dunn is the CEO of Holdun and Managing Partner of Holt Accelerator. Holdun, a 5th generation family business which offers Family Office Services, Wealth Management Services, Trust Services, Corporate Services, Concierge Services and Financial Services, was awarded best Multi-Family Office in the Caribbean 2017 for Holdun Family Office. A tech-savvy investor, he has made many investments in startups including Stradigi AI, Addepar, Uber, LeAD Sports Accelerator, Sway Ventures, and Falcon 5.
Chris is Managing Partner at TWG. He brings over 20 years experience in technology software & services, including more than 15 years in executive management positions. He has held leadership roles both in startups and with large organizations, and has helped build teams in Silicon Valley, London, England and his hometown of Toronto.
At TWG, Chris leads a growing business development and marketing team that works with some of today’s most innovative growth companies and market leaders. Chris is an active member of the global tech community, an angel investor, a Techstars mentor and is an active Board member of CFC IDEAboost.
Peggy Van De Plassche
Peggy is the Managing Partner of Roar Ventures, an early-stage VC fund focusing on data/AI startups targeting the financial services industry.
Prior to starting Roar Ventures, Peggy was Senior Advisor at Portag3 Ventures, VP Innovation at CIBC, launched a couple of Fintech ventures, invested in the space, consulted for large and small financial institutions, and worked at CGI and BMO on their strategic technology investments.
